KZNCC received a call from one of the owners of 15 houses that were demolished in KwaDukuza by a farmer from Mpumalanga province in June 2024. It is believed that the farmer came with five bulldozers to put down houses of which some were completed and fenced. He was accompanied by a group of SAPS policemen and private security guards from a private company.
The KZNCC religious leader and a staff member visited the scene together with two women to gather more information so that an appropriate action is taken. Upon arrival , the remains of the flattened houses were seen, and some portions of the houses were left untouched allowing those who were found inside to seek alternative place.
The women explained that they had paid the traditional leader R25 000 for the piece of land. But all that , together with the semifinished house , have gone down the drain. KZNCC have later engaged the traditional leader who denied that the land belongs to the white farmer. He promised to invite KZNCC to a meeting in July where the affected and the local leadership will meet for the purpose of finding solution to the matter .
