In view of the closure of NGOs nationwide due to funding challenges  and change of strategy to some of the donors , the UKZN Legacies of Violence Programme was approached by the Pietermaritzburg-based organisations for support to address this challenge. These organisations are part of the Legacies of Violence programme but this time round they wanted to get some information,  skills and knowledge on fundraising so that their organisations are stable and running. The KwaZulu Natal Christian Council had sent three representatives to attend the workshop. The picture shows Prof Philippe Denise, one of the facilitators , listening to the feedback from one the groups representation after a task was completed.

The one-day workshop was organised and about 20 people from 10 organisations attended the event which was held at African Enterprise here in Pmb. .This will be followed by a virtual follow -up coming up on 3 February 2026 . On the 17th of February 2026 , a physical meeting will be held for all the organisations and individuals who had attended the 1st workshop and the KwaZulu Natal Christian Council will host.

After all these interventions by the Legacies of Violence , the participants are not only expected to have an updated list of potential donors in the country and abroad. They are expected to know how to approach them, state their case for support and can draft concepts notes and funding proposals for their organisations.
