Elections

KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council (KZNCC), in partnership with Kagiso Trust, recognised the need to conduct workshops to train Trainers of Trainers (ToT) in all nine provinces of the Republic of South Africa.

Kagiso Trust entrusted KZNCC to partner with the South Africa Democracy and Election Network (SA-DEN) and #Unmuted Civil Society in South Africa with the national responsibility of implementing the 2024 National and Provincial Election Project in 54 districts and 257 municipalities across all 9 provinces.

KZNCC was tasked to manage all the 2024 Elections activities including Voter and Balloting Education, Civic and Democracy Education, and Mediation and Conflict Resolution.

On 13 March 2024, the National and Provincial 2024 Project was launched nationwide, with the press statement released by Kagiso Trust leadership to market and publicise the project — ensuring its national visibility and significance.

Primary objectives
  • Conduct mobilisation and consultation sessions in 54 districts of all 9 provinces; recruit, train and deploy 100 mediators per province.
  • Focus on good governance and effective leadership in church, government, business and public office. Train three Master Trainers of Trainers per province.
  • Roll out Civic and Democracy Education workshops in conjunction with the #Unmute Civil Society campaign resolution.
  • Set up project media, publicity and communication systems for voter and balloting education — improving voter education and reducing spoiled ballot papers.
  • Capacity-building on mediation and conflict resolution. Craft positive messages for conflict resulting in reduced violent protests and intra and inter-party political violence and killings.
