Gender Justice & Wellness

Gender Justice & Wellness

Aims to contribute to increased access to, and uptake of, Sexual and Reproductive Health Services, HIV Testing Services and GBVF Services for Adolescents and Young People and other key and priority populations.

KZNCC Gender Justice is in the process of requesting partnerships with churches and traditional houses to conduct orientation, and to help support the development of gender justice policies for churches and traditional courts.

The leaders identified the challenges of high teenage pregnancies, Gender-Based Violence and Femicide, the practice of ukuthwala, HIV, poverty, mental health and malnutrition. As a result, the Izigodi Model was formed to bring knowledge and raise awareness on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), HIV and GBVF in izigodi — villages located in geographically remote communities with limited access to basic municipal services.

Primary objectives
  • Strengthen local-level institutional and leadership capacity on delivery of integrated SRH, HIV and GBV services under the Izigodi Model.
  • Facilitate and support advocacy and community-mobilisation initiatives addressing discriminatory gender and socio-cultural norms affecting girls and women.
  • Raise awareness on sexual reproductive health, HIV, gender-based violence and other critical social issues.
  • Facilitate and support local-level institutions in the delivery of integrated services under the Izigodi Model.
  • Facilitate policy and advocacy dialogues with local-level leaders, and create referral and integration pathways.
