The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund (NMCF), in collaboration with the King Cetshwayo Christian Council, the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council, and the University of Zululand, successfully conducted a community outreach engagement focused on advancing children’s programmes within KwaZulu-Natal.

The initiative brought together communities currently participating in, and those previously reached through, children’s development programmes. The programme was ably directed by Mr Mxolisi Nyuswa, Programmes Director at KZNCC.

A keynote address was delivered by the CEO of NMCF, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in safeguarding and empowering children. Rev Khumalo, representing KZNCC, responded with a presentation on the current state of children in KwaZulu-Natal, emphasising the urgent need for strengthened church involvement in addressing child welfare challenges.

The event attracted strong participation from local women and key stakeholders working in the children’s sector, including representatives from the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Social Development, demonstrating a shared commitment to protecting and nurturing the wellbeing of children in our communities.
